This is a traditional-style Muah Chee or Glutinous Rice Snack With Peanut & Sugar. It's a popular Chinese snack. The rice was soaked for a day, steamed and pounded, or in this case with a help of a mixer. The texture of the dough is smooth, elastic and chewy.
Muah Chee
Ingredients
1 Recipe (about 750 grams) Mua Chee/Mochi Dough
2 Cups Sweet Rice/Glutinous Rice, soaked overnight
2 tsp Peanut Oil
2 Tbsp of Mugwort Powder or 1 Tbsp Matcha Powder, optional (for flavouring)
2 Cups Roasted Peanuts, chopped
1/2 Cup Cane Sugar
1/4 to 1/3 Cup Toasted Sesame Seeds
A Big Pinch of Sea Salt
Combine chopped peanuts, sugar, toasted sesame seeds, and pinch of salt. Set aside.
Place some peanut mixture in a tray. Transfer the dough into the tray with peanut mixture. Pat the dough with peanut and cut the dough into smaller pieces, or bite-sized pieces, coat with peanut mixture. Then transfer to a serving plate. If you are not using all the dough, then divide it and cover with a plastic wrap. Reheat the dough in a steamer or microwave.
