This is a recipe for Sambal Petai With Shrimps. It's spicy but milder than the recipe that I have posted earlier. To those who are not familiar with Petai, it's also commonly known as Sator, or Sataw beans, and might taste quite peculiar to some people. There are many health benefits for Petai too. Here is the link, if you're keen on learning more about it.
Sambal Petai With Shrimps
Ingredients
200 g Peeled Petai
150 g Four Angled Beans, sliced
250 g Peeled Shrimps
3 to 4 Tbsp Peanut Oil
2 to 3 tsp Sugar
1 tsp Chicken Powder
3 to 4 Kalamansi, juiced
2 Tbsp Water
Sea Salt to taste
Sambal Paste
6 red Chilies, seeded & chopped
6 Thai Bird’s Eye Chilies, chopped
4 Shallots, roughly chopped
2 cloves Garlic, chopped
1 1/2 tsp Roasted Shrimp Paste (Belacan)
Method
Heat the oil over medium heat. Add the sambal paste and cook until fragrant.
Then turn the heat on high. Add some water, then mix in the shrimps and stir briefly until the shrimps begin to cook.
Toss in the Petai and Four Angled Beans. Stir well until all the ingredients are coated with the sambal. season with chicken powder, sugar, Kalamansi juice, some water and mix well.
This looks really good even though I'm not a fan of petai... I think I'll just pick out the shrimps and eat them hehe.
