The current warmer weather in Vancouver just got me craving for some frozen treats! So it was about time I started to utilize the ice-cream maker attachment which I purchased some time back. It works with my KitchenAid mixer. I have many recipe books with mouthwatering frozen treats; but, the one I like best is "The Perfect Scoop" by David Lebovitz. I have tried several recipes from this book. I must admit they were simply superb! So, I'll be sharing some of the recipes with you in the near future. Hope you'll find time to whip out some frozen treats for your family or friends.
Recipe adapted from The Perfect Scoop by David Lebovitz
Pineapple Sorbet
Ingredients
1/2 Pineapple, peeled and cored (2 cups, 500 ml puree)
8 to 10 Tbsp (100 to 130 g) Sugar
1/2 Cup (125 ml) Water
Method
Cut the pineapple into chunks and puree in a blender with 8 Tbsp (100 g) sugar and the water until smooth. Taste, then add up to 2 Tbsp additional sugar, if desired.
Allow the mixture to chill thoroughly, then freeze it in an ice cream maker.
Note: Makes about 3 cups (750 ml)
I bet pineapple would make such a lovely sorbet!
ReplyDeleteI love pineapples..looks very good!!
ReplyDeleteWho would have thought that pineapple would make such a creamy-looking sorbet! It makes me want to fiddle with my own ice cream maker and make some coconut milk-inspired desserts. :)
ReplyDeletepineapple, who would have thought of using this fruit for sorbet (mostly mangoes for me). your picture looks lovely, very refreshing and summery.
ReplyDeleteThis looks great. It's starting to warm up here in Arkansas so I'm thinking that something easy like a sorbet is on the menu pretty soon. Surely it's not too big of a jump to go from pineapple sorbet to something with more of a pina colada flavor to it?
ReplyDeleteNummy!
Wow, that looks so refreshing!!! Fantastic job. I was debating whether to get the ice cream maker attachment for my kitchen aid and you sold me!!
ReplyDeletebeautiful!!! and so nice and simple. I really want to make this. Maybe with a light mint syrup?
ReplyDeletelooks delicious. now i'll have to get an ice cream maker!
ReplyDelete@Jessica604: "Creamy-looking sorbet" is the exact word! Coconut milk-inspired desserts sound delicious.
ReplyDelete@Cindy Khor: I like mango sorbet too. In fact, just made them couple days ago. Yummy :)
@LazySumo: That's exactly what I did! Start with sorbet then ice cream. Pina Colada? (just add coconut milk & rum)
@Chris: Ha! I have the same problem too! Was debating whether to get the attachment or an ice-cream maker.
I am making some pineapple sorbet right now! Be sure to enter this into the Ice Cream Social at http:savorthethyme.blogspot.com
