At Whole Foods Market, I like a few brands of frozen puff pastries which they carry. I won't name the brands here, there are only a handful in their store freezers. I'm sure most of them are quite good. The ready puff pastry is very handy as you can easily fill them with apples, strawberries, blueberries, rhubarbs or any of your favorite fruits and just bake them! It's real easy, now you can make savory pastries like the professionals. Try it!
Apple Turnovers
Ingredients
1 Packet ( 12 pcs) Frozen Puff Pastry for Empanadas or Turnovers, thawed
3 Golden Delicious Apples, diced
1/2 tsp Cinnamon Powder
1 1/2 tsp Flour
A Pinch Of Sea Salt
1 Egg + 1 Tbsp Of Water, lightly beaten
Method
Preheat the oven to 425˚F (220˚C).
Gather the apples, cinnamon, flour, salt and mix until well combine.
Divide the apple mixture equally onto the center of the pastry. Brush all the edges of the pastry lightly with the egg-wash.
Then seal the edges and press the edges with a fork. Brush the top of the turnovers with egg-wash.
Bake the turnovers for 5 minutes, then reduce the heat to 375˚F and continue to bake for another 15 to 20 minutes or until the pastry is golden in color. Allow the pastry to cool slightly before serving.
