These beef rolls are so delicious! You can serve them as starters or even as a main course. This dish is definitely on my list for my next party. It's so easy to prepare and cook in less than 20 minutes!
Japanese Beef Rolls
Ingredients
8 thinly slices of Beef (sirloin)
8 stalks of Asparagus, trimmed
3 stalks of Scallions, halved
100g Enoki Mushrooms, trimmed
3 Tbsp Japanese Soy Sauce
3 Tbsp Mirin
1 Tbsp Cooking Oil
Toothpicks or small skewers
Method
Preheat the oven to 400˚F (205˚C). Oil a baking tray.
Prepare the basting sauce. Mix the soy and mirin. Set aside.
Lay the beef slices, place the asparagus, scallions and mushrooms. Roll them tightly, and secure with toothpicks.
Bake in the oven for 5 minutes and baste the beef rolls with the sauce. Repeat the basting every 5 minutes until the beef rolls are cooked.
Boil the remaining sauce lightly and brush the beef rolls again. To serve, remove the toothpicks. Top it with some chopped scallions! DELISH!

This look awesome and I actually tried it for a BBQ a few days ago. The only thing was that, it was so delicious it got snatched up pretty fast. Lol. Not exactly cheap for a budget BBQ but definitely worth the money to satisfy our taste buds!

ReplyDeleteThis looks really delicious. I'm definitely going to try it but before I make it I got a few questions. Like how many grams is 8 thin slices of sirloin beef or would I be able to purchase the already sliced up ones? And is it ok to marinate the beef in the basting sauce first then pop in the oven but at the same time baste it every 5 mins? I thought maybe the marination might increase the flavour of the beef. And how long to bake them for in the oven? Don't want the beef to be overcooked and taste really tough. Thanks if u can answer my questions asap. Keep up the good recipes!
ReplyDelete@Lilian: Sorry, I don't have the exact measurements for the beef slices. You can use the ready thinly sliced beef from the stores too. There's no need to marinate the beef before cooking. They'll be too wet to roll up with the rest of the ingredients.
ReplyDeleteOkay, maybe I'll marinate but after when I take them out I'll pat it dry? Is that ok? What about how long in the oven?
ReplyDelete@Lilian: I think it should be okay. Do check the beef after 12 or 13 minutes in the oven, you probably need less than 15 minutes to cook. Good luck :)
